Technical Product Owner

Role Purpose

The role of a Technical Product Owner is to bridge the gap between the business and technical teams within the M-Pesa. The purpose is to oversee the product development process from a technical standpoint and ensure that the product meets the needs of the business while also adhering to technical requirements and standards.
The Technical Product Owner’s primary objective is to translate the business requirements into technical specifications, prioritizing and managing the product backlog. They work closely with stakeholders, including business owners, project managers, and development teams, to understand their needs and ensure that the development process aligns with the overall business strategy.
The Technical Product Owner is responsible for defining and communicating the technical vision for the product to the development teams. They collaborate with the Scrum Master and Agile teams to ensure that the user stories and acceptance criteria are well-defined and technically feasible. They provide guidance and clarification to the development team during the development process, answering questions and resolving any technical roadblocks that may arise.
Additionally, the Technical Product Owner is responsible for staying informed about emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to ensure that the product is leveraging the most up-to-date and effective solutions. They act as a subject matter expert on technical matters, providing guidance to the business team and ensuring that the product is developed in accordance.

Key Accountabilities and Decision ownership.
Main Responsibilities

• Fulfilment of the VSSL M-Pesa Licensing Agreement – SCHEDULE 1: THE SERVICES
• Ensuring compliance of the Huawei Roadmap and ASD fulfilment in line with the key VAA contract terms
• Support Markets to satisfy Supervisory Bodies, making sure All Vendors and Partners are responsible for the majority of the costs associated with any regulatory changes
• Critical Resource of The Company as a API SME/Engineer, Configuration Integration Authority, G2-Mobile Money-NextGen Systems Engineer
• Technical Product Ownership for Mobile Money/CPS/G2/NextGen
• Key Input to prioritizing business requirements for new roadmap items for the G2 Platform from all markets
• Troubleshooting and resolving G2/Nextgen Technical debt of the Value Streams and Markets from Huawei changes
• Managing the COE Config Resources to structure their demands from the Value Stream ARTs
• Implementation Authority for complex configuration requirements
• Managing the G2 Exposure/API work Load along with the Technical aspects
• Ensuring that business processes are adapted to meet new product offerings
• Providing Environment Readiness assessments for service assurance; before Launch and for Markets’ delivery work
• Critical Resource for managing the Markets’ Core Commercial Change Requests through the ASD & CRs’ submission channels
• Double hatting to cover the CAPEX gaps for the Scrum Master role vacancies

Core competencies, knowledge and experience
Must have technical / professional qualifications

• 5years or more years of Technical experience
• A Valid Driver’s License and own reliable car essential. Able to work under pressure and deadline driven
• A Willingness to learn and to be a team player.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)

Skills

• Software Development background in Java, Python, Node.Js
• Experience with ESB and API Orchestration products (Oracle ESB, WS02)
• In depth knowledge of API test tools and platforms (SOAP UI, Postman, Insomnia) and associated automation tools.
• In depth knowledge of core CPS and FinTech APIs and integration strategies.
• Detailed product knowledge and business configuration knowledge of M-Pesa
• SAFe 5 Product Management Certified
• Technical Expertise
