Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or related field is needed for the Data Governance & Quality position.
- Master’s Degree in Data Governance, Data Management, or MBA (preferred)
Relevant experience for Data Governance & Quality
- 8–12 years of experience in data governance & quality, data management, or information quality roles.
- Proven track record of implementing data governance frameworks in complex, regulated environments (e.g., financial services, fintech, telecoms).
- Strong stakeholder engagement across business, risk, legal, compliance, and technical teams.
- Familiarity with data regulations (e.g., POPIA, GDPR, BCBS 239) and enterprise data management principles (DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM).
Required certifications
- Preferred:
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) – DAMA
- DCAM (Data Management Capability Assessment Model)
Key responsibilities
- Lead the enterprise-wide data governance strategy, including policies, roles, stewardship, and standards.
- Define and enforce data quality metrics, KPIs, and remediation processes.
- Oversee metadata management, data lineage, and cataloguing tools.
- Partner with legal, risk, and compliance on regulatory data obligations.
- Chair or support data governance councils and stakeholder working groups.
- Embed governance into platforms, data products, and operational processes.
- Promote data ownership and stewardship culture across business domains.
